About Courtney Creates | Arts & Crafts (formerly Light in New England)

This blog began as a resource for things to do and see, popular destinations and travel, outdoor adventures, and daily life in New England, centered on the Upper Valley.

Life changes and so do interests. While I’m still photographing landscapes, travel, and life in New England, I’m also focused on crafting and art, which I hope to feature here, along with my videos from YouTube. Currently, I’m enjoying paper arts, calligraphy, watercolor, and delving into embroidery and journaling.

Creators will create, regardless of medium. My desire to try new things and create, is the overall theme in my life, and this blog.

About Courtney Cania | Photographer + Blogger

I photograph people, events, nature, and landscapes across New England and everywhere I land. If we sat down for coffee, few minutes would pass before the conversation drifts toward photography. I am that obsessed. I am also in love with life in the Upper Valley. There is always a new corner of beauty to be found, and though we’ve considered other places in the country to call home, there is simply nowhere else that compares.

I worked for many years in communications and web development. This blog is very much a project that blends my joy of photography, arts, content creation, and managing web content with a love for New England and crafty life. I launched Courtney Cania Photography, offering wedding and portrait photography, in the fall of 2017 which I made my full-time career in the spring of 2021. I continue to work in this field.

I was born in Exeter, New Hampshire. My family moved around a bit when I was young. We first moved to New Jersey, next, Massachusetts, and finally back to New Hampshire, and then Vermont. I lived in South Carolina for a brief time (2000-2002), and ultimately journeyed home. I live in the Upper Valley with my family in a town along the river that straddles both New Hampshire in Vermont.
